Barcelona Europe South Terminal (BEST)
  • In January, A.S. Watson Group opens its 10,000th store worldwide.

  • In January, Hutchison Telecom Hong Kong launches strategic partnership with Vodafone in Hong Kong as part of a wider agreement with the Conexus Mobile Alliance.

  • In February, Hutchison 3G Austria announces an agreement to acquire Orange Austria from Mid Europa Partners and France Telecom. As part of the overall transaction, certain frequencies, base station sites, the mobile phone operator Yesss! Telekommunikation GmbH as well as certain intellectual property rights of Orange Austria will be sold to Telekom Austria Group. The completion of these transactions remains subject to the approval by the relevant regulatory and anti-trust authorities.

  • In February, Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited announces that its subsidiary Hutchison Telephone Company Limited has successfully bid for a block of 30MHz spectrum in the auction of radio spectrum in the 2.3GHz band held by the Office of the Telecommunications Authority.


  • In September, Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings Limited and Power Assets Holdings Limited jointly announce that they are expanding into renewable energy power transmission in Australia. The high voltage network, to be completed in late 2013, will link the Mt Merced Wind Farm to Victoria's power grid.
  • In September, Terminal Catalunya (TERCAT), a subsidiary of Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH), celebrates the grand opening of its new semi-automated deep-water container terminal - Barcelona Europe South Terminal (BEST). BEST, located in the Port of Barcelona, is the first semi-automated terminal in HPH's network of ports and forms HPH's expansion of its port operations at the Port of Barcelona.

  • In October, a consortium led by Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings Limited (CKI) completed the acquisition of Wales & West Utilities (WWU) in the United Kingdom. WWU is one of the eight major gas distribution networks in the United Kingdom. Members of the consortium include CKI, Power Assets Holdings Limited, and Cheung Kong (Holdings) Limited and the Li Ka Shing Foundation Limited.

  • In November, Hutchison Water through its Hutchison Water Israel E.P.C Ltd. company, announces the acquisition of Kinrot Ventures (Kinrot). Kinrot is a worldwide leading seed investor in water and Cleantech technologies.
